We can keep cats home, and keep cats out of any outdoor landscaped areas. The PetSafe Cat Containment System Kit includes everything you will need to install your PetSafe cat containment system and contain your cat.

The PetSafe PIG00-11006 micro receiver cat collar has a warning tone followed by multiple ramping correction levels for the smallest, oldest, or most sensitive of cat's and small dogs. Your cat will be used to it in no time. The PIG00-11006 cat receiver collar has a low battery light to let you know when to change the batteries. It is water proof so your cat is safe if caught in the rain. The PetSafe PIG00-11007 is the smallest, lightest and most advanced cat containment system made.

PetSafe Cat Containment System

Outdoor Cat Training if using a tie out:
If your cat will not walk on a lead (and most will not), you will need to train your cat using a tie out. Obtain a 10’ to 15’ puppy yard tie out. These are available here: http://www.discount-pet-superstore.com/sport_dog/tie-outs.htm

Insert the yard anchor in the ground so the end of the tie out reaches a foot or two inside the flag line.

Attach your cat’s harness or collar to the tie out.

To ensure your cat’s comfort and well being, be sure there’s shade in the radius of the tie out, as well as easy access to fresh water.

Leave your cat in that area for 4 to 6 hours, and then move the tie out to a different area. Continue this for three days.

During this training period, your cat will learn to recognize the warning tone and to avoid the warning or correction areas.

If your cat will walk on a lead:

(This works best if there is someone to assist you with the first training session)

Choose a small area for your first training session. Place the flags very close together – approximately 18 to 24 inches apart. Change the walk areas with each training session.

Have your helper bring your cat very slowly into the warning area. When you hear the receiver collar begin to beep, shake the top of the flag from side to side. This will startle your cat. Do this several times the first day.

During the next day’s training, do not touch the flags. After you have placed the lead on your cat, take him into the warning area. If he does not back out of the warning area within a few seconds, he will receive a mild static correction.

If your cat attempts to leave the warning area, make sure he does not get past the flags. Never let the cat past the flags until the training is complete, with or without the receiver collar. Your goal is to have your cat trained within one week to turn towards home every time he hears the warning. If your cat thinks he can pass the flag area, the training will take much longer.

Leave the flags in place for three weeks after the cat is trained. Then remove every other flag every other day until they are all gone.

When the training period is complete, store the flags. You never know when you will be training your next pet!

Remember to check the PetSafe cat receiver collar regularly, adjusting it if needed so that both contact points make good contact with your cat’s neck. Both contact points must be in contact with the neck, or your cat will not receive any static correction.

letters from Customers:

Customer Care,

I am sorry it took me so long to write this letter. We are so very satisfied with our purchase from you. I always write to people when I am dissatisfied so I try to tell merchants when I am happy with a product. We installed an invisable pet fence around 6 acres of our garden center in Wisconsin for our new kitten when he was 4 months old, and we also have a winter home in Florida and we put in another system here. Our kitten is now nine months old and we have had no problems at either home. Even if another stray cat enters and trys to get him to follow, he stays in his area. This is a fantastic safety device for animals and yet it gives them the freedom to be "free". We bring him inside at night and in the morning he is looking for his collar so he can go outside all day. Our cat "Sambuca" and his servants, Thank you for a great product and for the great people that work for you that help set up the system and answer the stupid questions we ask.

Thanks
Greg and Chris Christen

To whom it may concern,

When I first considered and underground fence for my Bengal Cat, Kieko, everyone told me they didn’t exist and wouldn’t work. Well you proved them wrong. Cats, it would seem are far easier to train than are dogs. Kieko was “corrected” a total of two times. The first time she was rather shocked and backed away from the area. Perfect! The second time she ventured into the warning area and was “corrected” yet again. Since that time she generally won’t go near what was formerly flagged. Cats it seem notice everything about them when they receive that correction, flags, location, and the warning sound.

Now she goes to the door, awaits her collar, and darts happily on out to play on her one acre playground. I still worry about predatory animals such as owls and coyotes but I’m comfortable in the fact that she’ll stay within her preset boundaries. So yes, these pet fences do work for cats, probably much better than for dogs as everyone knows that cats are much, much smarter than dogs.
